Founded in 2006, trustdeed.com.au has grown alongside Australia’s SMSF community.

 

In the financial year ended 30 June 2025, our customers set up 8,247 SMSFs using our deed-representing just over 22% of all new SMSFs setups. With your ongoing support (i.e. advisors, accountants and SMSF administrators), we are on track to exceed this milestone in the current year.

Every SMSF administration requires an Audit and SMSF Auditors want to see a lot of documents. 

 

These documents can be divided into Permanent and Yearly documents such as:

 

Permanent Documents: Trust deed, Set up Minutes, Trustee Consents , ATO Declarations, Trustee Constitutions, Bare Trust Deeds, Trustee of Bare Trust Details , Pension documents, Loan Agreements, Property ownership Documents etc. 
 

Yearly Documents: Engagement Letters Investment, Trustee Representation letter, Financial Statements bank statements, Actuarial Certificate's, Rental income and expenses, Dividend statements and Managed Funds distributions statements, Tax returns etc. etc.. 

 
Individually, none of these feel overwhelming. But it is possible that for each fund - you need to hold anywhere between 200 pages to about 800 pages of information - then think across 80, 120, or 200 funds, the picture changes quickly - then multiply this figure by 10 as legislation requires you hold documents for 10 Years !!
